We invite you to read the publication of our colleagues from the Department of Complex Systems which is dedicated to the subject of security and, in particular, the breaches of the privacy of medical data records collected in the databases of hospitals in the USA. Article entitled Electronic Health Record Breaches as Social Indicators has just been published in the latest issue of the Social Indicators Research journal. The work is a result of cooperation between scientists from Rzeszów University of Technology (M. Mazurek, D. Strzałka), University of Economics in Katowice (A. Wolny-Dominiak), University of Newcastle (M. Wodbury-Smith) and University of Sudbury (WW Koczkodaj) . The presented statistical data show that only by the end of 2017, medical data of over half of the US population was stolen or their integrity was violated. The paper presents not only statistical data, but also the potential effects of the situation.
