We invite everyone interested to participate in a scientific seminar, which will be delivered on 22.10.2024, at 12:15, room F502, by PhD. Stanisław Skulimowski from the Lublin University of Technology.

The presentation is about an innovative approach to matching flat or nearly planar fragmented objects with indistinguishable textures, a common problem in archaeology, museology, and forensic science. The method utilizes chain codes to represent the outer contours of two-dimensional elements. The Levenshtein distance measure measures the correspondence between two elements and works as a matching margin. The developed algorithms enable the determination of multiple possible solutions, leaving the correctness assessment to the user. A graph-based system stores data about assembly order and method, so quality assessment indicators can be proposed as well as step-by-step assembly instruction.

PhD Stanisław Skulimowski is a research and teaching employee at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Lublin University of Technology. His areas of interest include: system integration, object-oriented design of computer systems, Game Studies, collective programming, designing the behavior of a set of robots, transhumanism, h+.

The seminar and scientific cooperation are carried out as part of Dr. S. Skulimowski's internship at the Rzeszów University of Technology, obtained thanks to the support of the Polytechnic Network VIA CARPATIA as part of the PO SĄSIEDZKU task - inter-university research internships and study visits.
